Item Description
A very rare part of a 15th century Ottoman armour. The arm defence is forged from one piece with a slightly flared cuff engraved with calligraphy around the border and flowers towards the middle. The edge is chipped slightly in places and punched with a regular line of holes for attaching mail and a lining. The defence is stamped with the mark of the Ottoman Court Arsenal of Hagia Eirene. The inscription includes Qur’an 2:255 (Ayat al-Kursi).
The defence is 14 inches long (35.5 cm).
